Python append

Following is the syntax for append () method − list. This is the object to be appended in the list. This method does not return any value but updates existing list. The following example shows the usage of append () method.

The method takes a single argument. The item can be numbers, strings, dictionaries, another list, and so on. You can use the append () function to add items to the end of a list. To add a new element to the list, we can use append method in the following way.


The list methods make it very easy to use a list as a stack, where the last element added is the first element retrieved (“last-in, first-out”). To add an item to the top of the stack, use append (). To retrieve an item from the top of the stack, use pop() without an explicit index.


Write or append the text to the file. In the following example, we have an existing file data. We will append some more text to the existing data by following the steps said above.
